Matt Dias

Matt Dias is President and CEO of the California Forestry Association (Calforests), where he leads the organization’s efforts to advance sustainable forestry, forest health and resilience, and a strong forest products sector in California.

Matt graduated from Humboldt State University in 1999 and began his career with the former Pacific Lumber Company, where he worked through 2005. He later joined Big Creek Lumber Company in Davenport, California, spending more than seven years in the private forest products sector. In 2012, Matt was appointed Licensing Officer for the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection. In 2015, he was appointed Executive Officer of the Board, a position he held until becoming President and CEO of Calforests in July 2021.

 

In addition to his role at Calforests, Matt serves on the Board of Directors of the Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program (FFRP) and is a member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Agriculture and Natural Resources (PAC). Through these roles and his work at Calforests, Matt remains actively engaged in advancing California forestry, natural resource and wildfire policy, workforce development, and the long-term resilience of the state’s forests and rural communities.
