Elizabeth “Liz” Berger

Vice President of Climate and Energy

With over 25 years of federal service, Liz Berger brings extensive leadership experience to her new role as Vice President of Climate and Energy at Calforests. In 2023, she served as Acting Regional Forester for the Pacific Northwest Region. Her prior roles in the Pacific Southwest Region include Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Tahoe National Forest, Regional Forester’s Liaison, and Acting Forest Supervisor for both the Six Rivers and Eldorado National Forests. She also served as Regional Budget Director and Acting Director for Ecosystem Management Coordination in the Washington Office.

Before relocating to California in 2015, Liz worked in the Washington Office as Assistant Water Program Leader and held acting positions as National Groundwater Program Leader and National Ecosystem Planner. She began her career as a wildlife biologist and hydrologist, spending 15 years in fieldwork across Oregon with the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.

Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and Management from the University of California, Davis.
