California Forest Center & The Farm School Tours at Cal Expo
The California Forest Center at Cal Expo offers educational field trips for school children in grades one through six. Students will participate in an introductory presentation, interpretive forest tour, and various hands-on activities. The tour provides a wealth of information and includes all aspects of a forest, from its beginning as a seedbed, growth into a thriving ecosystem, and its relationship with humans and other organisms.
Tours are offered free of charge, and last approximately one and a half to two hours. Each school must provide its own transportation and adult supervision. A picnic area is provided and groups are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.
California Forest Center tours are available in the fall and spring. Please make your reservations as soon as possible, as requests are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to schools or classes that have not previously participated in this program. Contact the California Forest Products Commission for specific dates and times.
