The local level, forest-dependent communities benefit from having access to materials such as timber, recreational activities and wood for fuel. Forests provide more than 1,100 communities in California with gainful jobs and economic stability. In California, the forest sector provides 110,000 jobs. The $4.2 billion in payroll provided by this sector helps keep the state economy strong.

Economic value is added with each step in wood processing. For example, for every dollar’s worth of wood in a standing tree, there is the potential for two to eleven times that amount in a finished wood product.

Everyone relies on wood products each and every day.
