Shaney Emerson

Education Director

Shaney joined the Commission as the Education Director in August of 2007. She is responsible for overseeing the Commission's outreach programs to educators and students. These programs include the development of K-12 curriculum and resources designed to help teachers provide students with balanced, scientifically sound lessons on forestry and natural resource issues. Shaney also coordinates career presentations that inform students about the diverse career opportunities available in forestry and natural resources.

Shaney graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in biology and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in biological sciences. Prior to coming to the Commission, Shaney taught high school biology and natural resource classes and also worked as a seasonal forestry technician.
